In 1994, General Heating & Air Conditioning, Inc. became a wholly-owned subsidiary of Madison's Hooper Corporation. This created a "best of both worlds" situation for our Industrial Sheet Metal Fabricating clientele by expanding our capacity to handle an enormous variety of highly specialized needs. Our expert custom fabricators have more than production skills; they "speak the language" of industrial ventilation. Our engineers understand industrial hygiene and the thermal relationship between occupants and their environment. Furthermore, we are familiar with heat exposure control, make up air requirements, and heat recovery. We also know and understand EPA compliance issues. Our plasma cutting table can handle plate material up to a half-inch thick, and we routinely cut, roll, form and weld carbon steel up to a quarter-inch thick. Our ductwork production involves welded, companion angle-joint, clamped, and/or flanged construction, with proper (non-silicone based) sealants. We have significant experience with breechings, stacks, conveyors and chutes. We have installed dust collection systems for saw and coal dust, as well as spray paint booths. We even offer industrial duct system cleaning.
Heavy Piping projects require a sophisticated level of technical, engineering and construction expertise. Pre-planning, proper material handling and coordination are the critical requirements for a proper installation. General has these capabilities as well as proven on-the-job experience. We fully understand the importance of minimizing downtime in order to keep our customer's on-going operation running as smoothly as possible. Many of our contracts have required the ability to handle the proper fitting and installation of 8" to 48" round steel pipes. We have also installed large underground high pressure steam and condensate piping in box conduits to serve a group of buildings, such as on the University of Wisconsin--Madison campus. We have the ability to pre-fabricate piping assemblies "off-site". This allows the project to continue at a steady pace, eliminating costly delays, and results in minimal disruption. Our substantial experience gives us an advantage in replacement projects that may require the partial removal of walls, floors and/or roof structures to accommodate large pieces of major equipment such as centrifugal chillers, boilers, feedwater systems, pumps, cooling towers and tanks.
