"We first utilized the Design/Build approach when we expanded our Madison office in 1986. As our HVAC contractor, General's leadership role and design expertise were so instrumental in that success story that we wanted them back when we expanded again in 1991! And we're still relying on them today!"

Once a construction project is finalized, owners often want to get it done in the shortest possible time. There are a good number of reasons why this is so, but most important is that it results in lower costs. To qualify for this kind of work , a contractor must be willing to assume complete responsibility for every aspect of a given facet of the project.

General's success as a Design/Build contractor is based on the fact that our experienced professional engineers are well versed in state and local building codes as well as the accepted HVAC industry design practices. We use the latest computer technologies for load calculations, engineering, layout work and coordination drawings. Our well-earned reputation for quality workmanship and effective design is part of every project. Our goal is to bring an efficiently functioning HVAC system to your Design/Build project, on time, and on budget.

At the TDS building on Madison's westside, a very sophisticated heating and cooling system keeps indoor temperatures within pre-determined limits for maximum operation and efficiency. "We required a very special system," says TDS Facilities Manager Mike Heald, "because we need to cool our facilities 12 months a year." General Heating & Air Conditioning was a perfect fit for TDS' Design/Build needs as a result of bringing together theoretical engineering knowledge and practical time-proven construction methods and techniques.

For the TDS project, General's specific recommendations included a variable volume "Moduline" system which uses slot diffusers, custom controls, and special sensors to constantly assess, and if necessary adjust, the inside temperature.

In TDS' expansive computer room, an area crucial to their business, a Liebert System, also proposed, designed and implemented by General Heating and Air Conditioning, maintains precise heating, cooling, humidification and dehumidification levels, automatically, throughout the year, regardless of the outdoor variables.

"When we made a 24,000 square foot addition to the building in 1991, we made sure General was here to duplicate their Design/Build success on our original construction," said Mike Heald. "They continue to service and maintain our entire system today."
