Employment

* At General Heating and Air Conditioning, Inc. we recognize and accept our "environmental responsibilities". This is evident in a number of ways, from the extent to which our technicians are "EPA-conscious" and specifically trained to the fact that we have identified and acquired all the various (computer-based and mechanical) resources necessary to deal with those environmental responsibilities.

"Environmental safety" is a different focus than a safe approach to "on-the-job" matters. Here our intent is to actively pursue and utilize products, tools and practices that go beyond "not harming the environment"; our goal is to protect the environment. Frankly, we are very proud of the fact that we have always dedicated ourselves to this progressive posture.

We want you to know that all of our technicians have attended schooling for and have received the EPA-mandated Federal Certification necessary to work with the new refrigerant regulations. What's more, each technician has acquired his Wisconsin Certification as well.

We have made it a practice to record and track all of our residential and commercial refrigerant applications since 1996 so that we can help any commercial client stay informed of the "consumption" status of their cooling equipment. This is to help that client avoid the consequences of exceeding the Federal "maximum leak rate" of 15% of volume, (if the size of their equipment falls into the categories that prompt these restrictions). You may recall the undeniable validity of the proverbial "ounce of prevention..."

The 1987 "Montreal Protocol" is the international agreement that set dates to first reduce and then ban environmentally dangerous ozone-depleting refrigerants. When others were looking to forestall implementing this matter "until they had to", Carrier jumped on it, reasoning that this issue should be addressed "the sooner the better". As such, we are proud to be a Carrier dealer.

One of the most visible ways of encouraging and stimulating our environmentally progressive stance involves using and promoting Carrier's
CFC-free "Puron" refrigerant for residential air conditioning units.

Today, under the trademarked name "Puron", Carrier has successfully designed, tested and introduced an entirely new residential air conditioning system. Simply stated, these "Puron" units/systems utilize existing technology but at a much higher pressure. And, although the new, "healthy" refrigerant can not be "retro-fitted" into an existing residential system, Carrier's innovative adaptation does mean that overcoming the environmentally detrimental aspects of past products will not mean "reinventing the wheel". Not only has Carrier solved the problem, but they have done so in a reasonably easy-to-use manner.

At General, we have the Carrier Puron products in stock, are trained on them, endorse what they do for our joint future and are actively promoting them to our residential customers.

General Heating and Air Conditioning, Inc., Carrier and "Puron": three very positive reasons to look forward to the future of the planet we all share.
