Task Planning

Formalization and documentation of crew task planning is vital for the identification, analysis and control of exposures arising out of tasks performed throughout the work shift. A daily structured protocol outlines task procedures and a method of information dispersal to all crewmembers. Also known as "tailgates", these are completed at the beginning of the day and with each change of task throughout the day.

The safety department also participates in pre-job planning activities. Any excavation activity of 4-feet or more in depth requires a joint pre-planning meeting with the safety department, project management and field supervision. Similar preparations are made for fall protection, confined space exposures and similar hazardous activities.
