"Safety First"

General Heating implements and maintains a complete current employee safety program. It is our ultimate goal that all employees enjoy a safe and productive work environment. Our concern for safety stems not only from our commitment to comply with government regulations but, more importantly, the elimination of pain and suffering caused by worksite injuries.

Our Safety Department's activities include on-site inspections, field safety meetings, first aid and CPR training, safety incentive programs, and safety manuals. Accidents are investigated and analyzed to eliminate re-occurrence.

The following briefly describes some of General Heating's continuing safety programs.

Loss Analysis

A Loss Source Analysis examines past accidents in an effort to develop trends in occurrences. This trending information identifies departments and activities that have a history of repeat injuries. Special programs are then developed and directed toward the prevention or reduction of those recurring injuries.

Fitness for Duty Our Fitness for Duty Program includes a complex schedule of drug/alcohol testing protocol. Pre-employment, reasonable suspicion, random, post accident, and return to duty testing generalizes some of the testing being performed at various levels of the company.

Safety Incentive Program A Safety Incentive Program has been utilized since 1989 to increase employee awareness regarding safety. Quarterly, semi annual, and annual awards heighten employee attitude toward safety. Various programs reward field personnel as well as supervisors in a positive manner.

On-Site Inspections The Safety Department makes random unannounced site visits. These visits include surveys which are used as a tool to determine regulation compliance as well as to increase safety awareness at each site. Replacement of additional safety-related supplies are also made available during these visits. Recommendations resulting from these surveys are discussed immediately with field supervisors. Formal written summaries are provided to Project Managers, Division Heads and the President.

Mobile Training Center A customized van is utilized to provide enhanced field services to construction projects. The vehicle boasts a large capacity of safety inventory, as well as a field training center. The Mobile Training Center is equipped with video/audio accessories to aid in acceptance and retention of training sessions and provides ample room to house a standard work crew through a training session.
